“”Even though I play a lot of live shows, I also really enjoy making DJ mixes. Apart from my earlier productions, and Coma Cat!, a lot of people know me from my very first Resident Advisor mix, which really did help to changes things career-wise for me.
And this one is no different. As ever, there is a certain sound and sensibility that I like in my music, but I also like the odd curveball, like opening with that really stunning track from Alice Coltrane called ‘Krishna’. I would say the first hour is super-deep and mellow and the second really kicks up a gear, so it’s a game of two halves!
I’ve included new music from people like Medlar and Martin Patino, as well as new productions from my forthcoming artist album, which will be out later in the year. I have to say, I’m super-happy with my Essential Mix. It has groove and depth and doesn’t take any obvious routes… I hope you enjoy it too”.
