Gilles Peterson Worldwide 2012-04-21 Gilles Peterson looks at the disco re-edit scene
“Gilles Peterson returns for his third Saturday afternoon session on BBC Radio 6 Music, searching far and wide for the perfect beat.
Alongside his trademark sound, which touches on soul, jazz, hip hop and funk, this week Gilles takes a look at the disco re-edit scene as part of 6 Music Celebrates: Dance Culture. Fronted by Boston crate diggers Kon & Amir, amongst others, this movement has seen classics by Cerrone and The Joubert Singers light up dance-floors 30 years after their inception.
Gilles started his career in pirate radio before going on to present on BBC London, Jazz FM and Radio 1, whilst also founding two seminal record labels – Acid Jazz and Talkin’ Loud along the way. More recently his Brownswood label has championed Mercury nominated artist Ghostpoet as well as up-and-comer, G@ng Colours.”

Gilles Peterson in da House! Oh, yeah..!!

Hey, Thomas! Have you heard Machinedrums new release ‘Room(s) Extended’. What an awesome album!
I’ve been following him for a while. He’s a big talent for the future, for sure. Well worth a listen. (Double CD – Not a bad track).
PS: Any news on Mary Anne’s shows, here at Core?
